사물 묘사하기

Model Dialog :

A: Tell me about your purse.
B: Well, it was dark brown, and it had a shoulder strap.
A: What was it made of?
B: Leather.

A: 부인의 핸드백에 대해 말씀해 주세요.
B: 어, 짙은 갈색에 어깨 끈이 있었습니다.
A: 무엇으로 된 것입니까?
B: 가죽이요.

Speaking Tip : 물건을 분실하거나 맡겨 놓은 물건을 찾기 위하여 그 물건의 특징을 묘사해야 할 필요가 있을 것이다. 물건의 특징을 말할 때는 크기, 재질, 모양, 색깔 등을 다음과 같은 형식으로 나타내게 된다.

- What does it look like? (그것은 어떻게 생겼습니까?)
- Tell me about it. (그것에 대해 설명해 주세요.)
- What is it made of? (재질은 무엇이죠?)
- What sort of wallet is it? (어떤 종류의 지갑입니까?)
- How big is it? (크기는 얼마나 되죠?)
- What would it be worth? (가격은 얼마짜리나 됩니까?)

Dialog Practice 1 :

A: Excuse me.
B: Yes, sir. Can I help you?
A: I hope so. I've lost my baggage.
B: I see. And what does it look like?
A: Well, it's light brown leather.

A: 실례합니다.
B: 네, 도와 드릴까요?
A: 그래 주세요. 짐을 잃어버렸습니다.
B: 알겠습니다. 어떻게 생겼죠?
A: 어, 밝은 갈색 가죽입니다.

Dialog Practice 2 :

A: Excuse me, please. I seem to have lost my wallet.
B: Oh, I see. Well, I'll have to fill out this lost and found
report for you. What sort of wallet, sir?
A: Uh, it was a square leather wallet. Red with a black
design on it.

A: 실례합니다. 제 지갑을 잃어버린 것 같습니다.
B: 아, 알겠습니다. 분실물 신고서를 작성해 드리지요. 어떤 종류의
지갑이죠?
A: 어, 정사각형의 가죽 지갑입니다. 검정색 무늬가 새겨진 붉은 색이죠.

Dialog Practice 3 :

A: About how big was your scarf?
B: I guess it was about two feet square.
A: And what would it be worth?
B: Well, it was quite an expensive one. I'd say it was
worth about 30 dollars.
A: Where did you leave it?
B: I'm pretty sure I left it in the coffee shop on the 5th
floor.

A: 스카프가 어느 정도 크기였습니까?
B: 약 2평방 피트 정도 같아요.
A: 그리고 가격은 얼마나 될까요?
B: 글쎄요, 꽤 비싼 것이었어요. 30달러 정도는 되죠.
A: 그것을 어디에 두고 나왔습니까?
B: 5층 커피숍에 두고 온 것이 분명해요.
