Model Dialog :

A: Excuse me. I'm new in town. Is there a good French
restaurant near here?
B: Yes. There's one opposite the shopping center.
A: And could you tell me where the nearest gas station is?
B: It's down this street about two blocks.

A: 실례합니다. 이곳은 처음입니다. 근처에 좋은 불란서 음식점이
있습니까?
B: 예. 쇼핑센타 건너편에 하나 있어요.
A: 그리고 가장 가까운 주유소는 어디 있는지 알려 주시겠습니까?
B: 이 거리를 따라 두 블록 정도 가면 됩니다.

Speaking Tip : 근처의 지리나 지명을 어느 정도 아는 사람에게는 지명을 이용해 간단하게 위치를 가리켜 줄 수가 있다. 흔히 There is/are ~.의 구문이나 「It's+장소의 부사구」를 이용한다.

- There is a restaurant opposite the shopping center.
- (쇼핑센터 건너편에 식당이 하나 있습니다.)
- There are some grocery stores on Pine Street.
- (파인 스트리트에 식료품 가게가 몇군데 있습니다.)
- There is a bus stop in front of Mercer's.
- (머서 상점 앞에 버스 정류장이 하나 있습니다.)
- It's around the corner on Elm Street.
- (그것은 엘름 스트리트 길 모퉁이에 있습니다.)
- The nearest subway station is on 5th Avenue.
- (가장 가까운 지하철 역은 5번가에 있습니다.)
- You can find a taxi stand in the next block.
- (다음 블록에 택시 승차장이 하나 있습니다.)

Dialog Practice 1 :

A: Excuse me. I'm your new neighbor. I just moved in.
My name's Jack.
B: Oh, yes?
A: Are there any grocery stores around here?
B: Yes, there are some on Pine Street.

A: 실례합니다. 새로 온 이웃입니다. 방금 이사왔죠. 제 이름은 잭입니다.
B: 아, 그래요?
A: 이 근처에 식료품 가게가 있습니까?
B: 예, 파인 가에 몇 군데 있어요.

Dialog Practice 2 :

A: I wonder if you could help me. I'm looking for Alfeo's
Restaurant.
B: Alfeo's? It must be that place around the corner on
Elm Street. On the corner of 22nd.
A: Thank you for your help.

A: 도와 주실 수 있을지 모르겠습니다. 알페오 식당을 찾고 있습니다.
B: 알페오? 엘름 가의 모퉁이 근처에 있는 것이 틀림 없어요. 22번가예요.
A: 도와주셔서 감사합니다.
